Kaci’s Camp-Style Chicken Alfredo

I’m not going to bore you with a witty line about chicken or pasta; I’m not a food blogger. However, I do enjoy a delicious meal while camping in the woods, and I would like to briefly tell you how I created this recipe for chicken alfredo!

In August of 2019, I was gearing up for a camping trip with some of my gal pals for National Summit Day. Since I had offered to bring most of the food for the weekend, I wanted to have an awesome meal plan for us. While making my grocery list, I tried to find some new recipes that I had never made while car camping before. I searched on Pinterest, Google, Allrecipes, anywhere the internet would take me, but I just wasn’t finding anything that sounded good.

While brainstorming meals that would be easy, but oh-so delicious at the same time, I thought, “How about chicken alfredo!? Surely someone out there has a camping recipe for that.” I was wrong! I couldn’t find the slightest recipe for a simple dish of the deliciousness. Being the creative person that I am, this is how Kaci’s Camp-Style Chicken Alfredo became a real meal! And let me tell you, it’s easy-peasy and very scrumptious! The gals camping with me LOVED it!

This recipe serves 4-5 people and is a general guide—you can adjust the amount of ingredients if feeding more as needed. All of my camping recipes are made over a propane camp stove with cast-iron pots and pans unless otherwise stated.


12-oz. package of your favorite pasta (I use bow-ties)
1 teaspoon olive oil
22-oz. bag of frozen grilled chicken breast, diced or strips
15-oz. jar of your favorite alfredo sauce (I use Bertolli Creamy Alfredo Sauce)
Optional: 1-oz. sun-dried tomato slices


1. In a large pot, bring 2-3 quarts of water to a boil. Add about half of the pasta (6-7 oz.) and cook according to package directions. Strain, return to pot, then set aside.

2. In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add 12-oz. of the chicken (about half the bag) and cook until slightly brown. Here is where you would also add the sun-dried tomato slices if you wish.

3. Add the entire jar of alfredo sauce to the skillet with the chicken and stir occasionally until hot (about 5 minutes). Be sure to cover all of the chicken with sauce.

4. Pour the chicken and sauce mixture into the pot with your noodles, stir, then serve while it’s hot!
